  • Hi, my name is Jim Wasky, and this is Channel 6 News. Today, we celebrate the 40th anniversary of a devastating loss. On this day, 40 years ago, a young African American boy named Emmett Till was brutally beaten and killed for talking to a white woman.
  • August 28, 1995
  • August 28, 1955: Going back in time
  • On August 28, 1955, 2 men, after hearing about what Emmett Till did, went to his place, and kidnapped him, taking him to a remote shack.
  • The 2 men brutally beat and killed the boy, smashing his face so hard, that he wasn't recognizable anymore.
  • Emmett Till's loss was something horrible. And, it started awarness of how these events, and segregation is wrong, especially to the children of the country.
  • August 28, 1995
  • September 6, 1955
  • On Emmett Till's burying day, many people came to give remorse to the death of this young boy. This event started awareness in the country to segregation.
  • Emmett Till's death will be remorsed, as we celebrate a kind boy, who was put through lots of misery. Thank you, and back to you Paul, on this historic event.
