  • I HATE writing in our journals!! (Throws chair)
  • Let's get out our journals and begin our entries.
  • Some of you may not like writing but I will give you 3 topics to choose from to help.

  • If there are students who dislike writing try offering different writing topics so that they have a choice and then they might show more interest.

  • Now that we are away from others and you have calmed down, can you tell me why you're upset?

  • When you throw something in the classroom it can really hurt someone else and cause bigger consequences for yourself. 
  • Teacher moves all students to one side of the classroom for safety and gives the defiant child some room to calm down. 
  • The teacher removes the defiant child from the classroom and calmly discusses the situation.
  • Calmly explain to the child how dangerous throwing something in the classroom can be. They may be just throwing out of anger and not realize the safety issue.
