  • After Scout tells Atticus of the church experience with Calpurnia, Aunt Alexandra is upset. Scout suspects it's about her, because of some troubles she had with Aunt Alexandra.
  • I don't see the harm in letting her go out there. Cal'd look after her there as well as she does here.
•'ve got to do something about her. You've let things go on too long, Atticus, too long.
  • Scout realizes it's about Calpurnia once Aunt Alexandra made it clear that she wanted Atticus to fire Cal. Then Atticus stands up to Aunt Alexandra, and makes him claim.
  • Alexandra, Calpurnia's not leaving this house until she wants to. You may think otherwise, but I couldn't have got along without her all these years. She's a faithful member of this family and you'll simply have to accept the way things are around here. Besides, sister, I don't want you working your head off for us- you've no reason to do that. We still need Cal as much as we ever did.
  • Scout wakes up Jem at night, believing there is a snake under her bed.
  • It ain't a snake, It's somebody.
  • To Jem and Scout's surprise, Dill appears under their bed.
  • I'm 'bout to perish, got anything to eat?
  • Jem, retrieves Atticus, which shocks Dill and Scout. Jem is becoming more mature with his decision making.
  • Whoa son, nobody's about to make you go anywhere but to bed pretty soon.
  • Mr Finch, don't tell Aunt Rachel, don't make me go back, please sir? I'll run off again!
  • Atticus hears of what some people might do to Tom Robinson at night. He quickly goes to protect him, and a mob appears in front of him. Jem, Scout, and Dill begin to worry, so they secretly went to protect Atticus from the mob.
  • He in there, Mr. Finch?!
