Hello! Today I would like to discuss a few different things' relationships and how they connect. To begin, I'll start with Point. Point is always at a specific place. Next, we have Line. Line is able to stretch forever. When Line wants to stop, he joins with two Points. They then are known as Line Segment. Line Segment looks pretty similar to Line, except he stops. Sometimes, Line only wants to stop at one side, so he joins with one Point. The other end keeps going. This is known as a Ray. Occasionally, two Rays will meet up at the same Point. This is called an Angle. They will face different directions, but stop at a Point known as Vertex.
Let's talk about Line again for a minute. Sometimes, two Lines look exactly alike. When they do this, they are Congruent. To be Congruent, the Lines must be the exact same length. Anything can be Congruent, as long as it has something that matches it exactly. Lines can also be Parallel. To be Parallel, the two Lines must perfectly be side by side. Any Line can be Parallel, whether it be a Line, Line Segment, or a Ray. Lines can also be Perpendicular. This happens when two Lines meet in a perfect cross, like axes on a grid. The two Lines make four 90 degree angles where they meet. Lines can also be Bisectors. A Bisector is a Line that cuts something in half. It can cut Angles, Lines, or shapes.
There are times when two Points want to know how far away they are from each other. For this, they use the Distance Formula. The Distance Formula can help determine how far away Points or Lines are on a graph. There also is the Midpoint Formula. This helps find the exact middle of a Line Segment or shape. The Midpoint Formula is helpful for if you are trying to place a Bisector.
