  • announced eligible voters
  • so glad that I could vote for the right person this time
  • political parties avertise/media
  • vote for me!
  • prime minister decides the date of federal election and tells governor general, if agreed it continues forward.
  • election day
  • once the election has been announced eligible voters have to check that they are registered to vote.You have to be a citizen and over 18 years of age.
  • counting
  • people of the community nominate others to debate against each other to win the communities vote, you have to be over 18 and vote on a ballot paper.
  • final outcome
  • Election Day is always a Saturday and you can vote any time between 8am to 6pm.The are held in public schools and other places so it is made easy to vote.
  • political parties recruit people to watch the counting and make sure everything I being done tomorrow.The results are then sent to the tally room in Canberra for a final count.
  • Sometimes the results surprise you but there is usually a clear winner, it may takes weeks for results.
