Meet Sally and Fred. They're 6 months into their marriage, but... one could say they're unevenly yoked. Fred works hard but spends his paycheck on tiny porcelain bulls and Sally is unemployed. Now, they fight often and loudly. When did this relationship go so wrong?
One could almost plot their relationship on a graph, wherein each increase of a number is equivalent to a 6 month period, and where x=0 is the commencement of marriage. This graph can be used to determine when the relationship was in which stage.
Approximately 18 months before x=0 (-5,-2 on the graph), things were going uphill. Fred and Sally, previously enemies in the negative y range, had become good friends and were considering a relationship. They started this relationship at x=-2, a turning point.
In the year afterward, the relationship edged toward negative emotions (no thanks to a lack of sleep due to sawing logs at night). X=0's marriage was supposed to stop the negative emotions and behaviors, but only served to see 2 more years of dissatisfaction, from (-2,2)
After their vague approximation of a marriage has lasted 12 months, a brief trip to a beach served to stagnate the downward slide at (2,4) for about a year.
And then the heat death of the universe happened, about 2 years into the marriage. And, as we all know, death improves vastly upon a stagnant relationship, causing death of both companions and an increase in quality at (4,5).
