Sure. You know who I'd want to be? Superman. I'd kick butt.
You ever want to be a superhero? You know, save people and stuff
I'd bet you'd be a cool superhero. You know who you should be?
Batman. Then I could be robin.
In this flashback, Steve recalls a time he spent with his brother. In this time, he is talking with his brother, Jerry about what type of superhero they would be. Steve includes this flashback because he wants to show that he is still a good guy even though he is in prison. He shows his feeling after Bolden says, "I just wanted to do the right thing. You know like a good citizen" (Myers 55). Bolden just wants to be good even though he's considered bad. But Briggs doesn't believe that he wants to be good when he says, "You were in jail trying to be a good citizen? Or were you really just trying to get out of jail not caring who you put in?" (Myers 55). Briggs and many other people may have doubts that prisoners can be good or were ever good, but Steve wants to show in this flashback that prisoners, well at least him, can be a good person and not be the cruel wicked person most people think they are.So int he end, Steve just want's to show that you can be a decently good person no matter where you are, even in jail.
