Storyboard Text

  • Hey Rachel! How has it been going for you?
  • Not great Bella...I still can't believe you got that loan and I didn't. We have the same job and live in the same condo. Why didn't I get that mortgage?
  • Today's Special: Italian Meatball Subs for $4.99!
  • Maybe Bella has been right all along, I need to manage my money better.
  • Your credit score is a number that reflects your creditworthiness and shows how risky you are to a creditor, like the bank! The score is generated on a credit report by either Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion and can range from 300 to 850, and Rachel, you probably have a score below 400.
  • There could be many reasons, but one of the biggest is probably your credit score, Rachel!
  • What are you saying?
  • Today's Special: Italian Meatball Subs for $4.99!
  • Yes, and it is based on the 5 C's of credit! Conditions of the loan, Collateral, which is what creditors can take if you don't pay your loan, Capital, which is your initial payment, Character, and Capacity, which your ability to pay the loan. Rachel, what I think you are having a problem with is Character.
  • I have a credit score?
  •
  • Today's Special: Italian Meatball Subs for $4.99!
  • Yes, but in credit language, Character means responsibility. By not making your constant payments on your credit cards and loans, your credit card score is lowered.
  • Great.
  • Today's Special: Italian Meatball Subs for $4.99!
  • How? I'm a good person...
  • Yep! Credit counseling is available from many non-profit organizations, especially here in San Fransisco. They teach you how to pay off your debts, make a payment plan and even will contact your creditors to get you a lower interest rate on your credit cards and loans for you to help you get back on your feet.
  • Is there somewhere I can go to learn how to learn how to use my money, like some sort of credit class?
  • Today's Special: Italian Meatball Subs for $4.99!
  • I think you're right Bella. What's the address?
  • Today's Special: Italian Meatball Subs for $4.99!
  •  I really think you need that Rachel. I don't want you going so far into debt, that you end up being bankrupt. The Consumer Credit Counseling Service of San Francisco is right around the corner by the way.
