  • Melody was going to the doctor for a check up on if anything can help even tho she knew it was hopeless. When they were there the doctor said "Your lucky she has the ability to smile and laugh. But melody will never be able to walk on her own or speak a single sentence." The doctor is saying there no cure for her disease and its hopeless.
  • Chapter 28
  • In chapter 15 Melody gets the media player and that lets her speak. This is important because she speaks her first words ever. Her first words were "Hi Dad, hi Mom. I am so happy." Mom completely losses it and she bubbles up with tears and grabs dad.
  • Chapter 30
  • During these chapters Melody try's out for the Whiz Kids team. She takes the test and is really nervous what she got on it. And then she hears "Melody blew us all away. She got every single question right. He pauses, to make sure everyone was taking this in. All of them." Everyone didn't know shes actually really smart.
  • Theme of story
  • Melody and there team are getting ready to go to Washington D.C. She ends up finding out that they left her by herself. Melodies group went early without telling her or her mother. They went to breakfast and then went early to the airport and they just got out before the storm And they left melody behind.
  • In this chapter penny runs out of the house and Melody sees penny, but her mom doesnt. The windows were too foged up to see anything. Melody has a panic attack and tried to warn her mother. But her mom ignored her from so much stress. That's when she felt a small bump. ' when she became deadly silent. The mom gets out of the car screaming really loud for a long time.
  • The theme of the story is "Don't judge a book by its cover." And also Don't criticize what you don't understand." In the story it says "I'm not trying to be mean, honest but it never occurred to me that Melody had thoughts in her head." And "I am in a special program with other children with what they call 'disabilities."
