  • Cleverness
  • Bravery
  • Curiousity
  • "She discovered that I was literate and looked at me with more than faint distaste" This shows that Scout isn't just your average little girl. She is a smart and literate child.
  • Affection
  • "But when I was rubbing his nose in the dirt" This shows Scouts bravery and how she is angered.
  • Unladylike
  • "Some tinfoil was sticking in a knot-hole just above my eye level... I stood on tiptoe, hastily looked around once more, reached into the hole..." Scout wouldn't even thing about going near the Radley house but she sees the tinfoil and is compelled.
  • Protective
  • "I crawled into his lap and tucked my head under his chin" In the beginning we never see a touching moment between Scout and Atticus but it happens now.
  • "You use words like damn and hell now, don't you? I said I reckoned so." This shows how scout is growing up and using "big girl words"
  • He's nothin' but a nigger-lover! He is not! I roared" This shows Scout's undying love for her father even though they seemed distant in the beginning of the book.
