In the tale of The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe show conflict between two characters go by the name of Montresor and Fortunato When Fortunato has insulted his family so he takes revenge upon him
Fortunato has insulted him a thousand times so he vowed in revenge
montresor wanted revenge on Fortunato because he has insulted him
"Fortunato had insulted me. So I vowed revenge" (poe,27) "Fortunato took my arm and turned us toward my estate." (poe,29) "No one insults me without a punishment." (poe,31)
This showes that Fortunato had insulted him and his family for years. So Montresor took his family motto and put it to use
The Great Fortunato wasn't so great anymore, he rotted slowly to his death behind that very wall.
