  • Growing tensions between the Colonies and Britan
  • The Quartering act
  • I guess i have no choice.....

  • That will be 15 dollars plus tax of 8 dollars. Pay up!
  • I hate this new tax law!
  • Naiya Olds-  In the 1750's and 1760's Britain and the colonists fought the french during the french and Indian war. After the war, Britain decided to put new taxes on the colonists to help them pay off depts.
  • The Boston massacre
  • The Quartering Act Was a law that said if a soldier needed a place to stay in America, The colonists would have no choice but to provide them with food, and shelter. As a result, many colonists did not treat the soldiers with respect. 
  • The Boston tea party
  • Britain needed more money to pay off dept. So they created the stamp act. The stamp act said that the colonists would have to pay tax on printed papers. The colonists didn't want to pay more money for things they used every day.
  • The Intolerable acts
  • All ships are forbidden to enter, if you are in the harbor, you may not leave!
  • As time went on the soldiers, and the colonists grew to hate one another evenmore. People in Boston started to take action. Soon there was a crowd in front of very few soldiers. It was not the captains intention to fire into the crowd, but one soldier thought he heard the command " Fire!" And he shot into the crowd. In the end five people were killed, and many others injured. 
  • After the Boston massacre, the British government repealed all of the unfair taxes, except for te tax on their tea. The tee act stated that the British east India company was the only company allowed to sell tea to the colonies. December 16, 1773 a group of people dressed up as native Americans and climbed uboard the tea ship in the Boston harbor. They destroyed the tea, but nothing else.
  • After the Boston tea party, the colonists called the unfair taxes "Intolerable acts". The Boston port act meant that ships were forbidden to enter or exit the harbor until the lost tea was paid for. People throughout the colonies promised to help boston by sending fodd, water, and supplies.
