Hello! I'm Mary Unwin, I was born in 1724. My Husband is called Morley, my son is called William and my daughter is called Susanna
After my husband died, my daughter, my friend and poet William Cowper and I moved to Olney in 1767
If Mr Cowper is sad or unwell, I sit with him and look after him.
I like to read, play the harpsichord and help Mr Cowper with his writing. I also knit all his socks. Sometimes, his cousin Lady Hesketh comes to visit.
Mr Cowper and I moved to Weston Underwood in 1786. We liked to go on walks, read and see our friends, like the poet Mr Hayley and Mr Samuel Rose.
While at Weston Underwood, Mr Cowper wrote a poem about me called "My Mary" in 1793. We later moved to East Dereham in Norfolk which is where we would live for the rest of our lives.
