Storyboard Text

  • So for our first question, what are your thoughts about Mesoamerica?
  • Well, if you insist.  But before we begin, let us take a walk.
  • But Sir, what about the show?  That's not even in the script!
  • Too bad.
  • Mesoamerica had  a  ballgame  that they would play for fun or for  sacrificial purposes.
  • It was also the first  "teaming" sport we know about
  • Sometimes the losing team would be executed in a sacred ritual.
  • They would be hit throughout the court by using their hips, thighs,  and buttocks
  • Rubber balls like these were used to play the game.
  • These balls were pure rubber and weighed about 4 kilograms, and were as big as a volleyball.
  • More 1600 balls were sent to  Mexico twice a year.
  • The Mesoamerican ballgame is still played today, using the same exact balls!
