Odysseus and his men encounter a Cyclops on their adventure. The Cyclops traps them in his cave, and eats some of Odysseus' men. Odysseus now has to use his
cunning to leave the cave, and escape the Cyclops.
Odysseus and his men reached the land of the Cyclopes. His men wanted to leave with a bunch of lambs, but Odysseus had a different plan. He wanted to see a Cyclops.
A Cyclops found Odysseus and his men in his cave. Odysseus asked the Cyclops for food, gifts, and supples, but the Cyclops said no. Instead he ate two of Odysseus' men.
Odysseus had a plan to escape the Cyclops's cave. He gave the Cyclops very strong wine to drink. The Cyclops drank the wine, and fell asleep. Then Odysseus got a spear and stabbed the Cyclops's eye.
Now that the Cyclops was blind, Odysseus just need to escape the cave with his men. They hid under the sheep of the Cyclops. Odysseus got the best sheep. Since the Cyclops was blind he did not realize Odysseus and his men were under the sheep.
Odysseus and his men escaped the cave. They started heading back to their ship. They also decided to bring the sheep with them.
While sailing, Odysseus yelled for the Cyclops. When the Cyclops blindly arrived, Odysseus shouted his name to him, taunting him. This was a bad move from Odysseus. The Cyclops shouted for his father Poseidon and asked him to curse Odysseus. Odysseus was not going home for a long time.
