When Zeus got angry at Prometheus for giving people fire without his permission, Zeus Chained him to a mountain. To get back at the people, he created a beautiful woman named Pandora to marry Epimetheus, Prometheus's brother.
Zeus sent Pandora to marry Epimetheus, but also gave her a box with a key and told her to NEVER open it. Pandora always asked Epimetheus to open it, but he always refused.
Curiosity took over Pandora and she opened the box one night whilst Epimetheus was sleeping. Opening the box caused deceit, despair, hate, envy and war to fly out and escape.
For days, these evil spirits wreaked havoc on humans. Destroying their crops, burning their villages, and making people go against each other. Pandora sat in her house crying when she suddenly heard another voice from within the box.
The little voice was hope, trapped inside the box. Pandora let her out, and hope blessed the humans. Hope fixed their villages, freed the people of their murderous trance, and restored peace.
Zeus realized that Pandora, a human, could be useful and kind. Zeus was reluctant but eventually accepted that the humans could walk alongside the gods. Zeus also freed Prometheus from his chains.
