Paul Fisher is a kid that is moving from Texas to a weird county called Tangerine which is an Florida. He doesn't know anyone there and there mainly moving because of his brother who is mean and is really good at football. Also Paul has horrible eyesight which is why he has extremely thick glasses.
Paul switches school because his old school collapsed. His new school is a lot different. It is a whole different environment. The kids are aggressive and mean. Paul makes friends and invites one whose name is Tino over to his house to work on a project. Erik comes home and decides to start a problem and he ends up making Tino in the face. Erik is changing because of his best friend Arthur.
Tins older brother, Luis, approaches Erik and is mad about Erik hitting Tino. Erik hints to Arthur that they have a problem. Rather stealthily goes next to Luis and hits him with a blackjack in the head. The bad thing is, Paul saw the whole thing from under the bleachers. He still wants to be friends with Tino but how can he do this. Luis dies of aneurysm from the blow. Paul is warned not to go to the funeral and that Tino was furious. whats paul going to do?
At a ceremony for the school, the whole football team is lined up. Tiny and Victor make their move. They jump on the stage out of nowhere and start beating Erik and Arthur. The coach tries chasing them but Paul decided he owed them one and tackles the coach. Then they ran. People are getting suspicious because some robberies have been happening lately. One day Mrs. fisher goes to the storage facility and finds a duffel bag with all the stolen goods, a blackjack, and a gas mask that was used to enter the fumigated homes.
The next day Victor, TIno, and Paul are called to school. Tiny tells Paul than out there and that you take your three week suspension and go. Paul didn't get that, he got expelled. Erik and Arthur had to recover or pay the people the amount there goods were worth back and Arthur was arrested for killing Louis.
