The Native's Nasty End
I'm sick with small pox and I'm afraid that I'm going to die.
Noooo! Curse the spaniards! They will pay for this.
Discovery of Georgia
Finally, we've arrived in the new world! Now, it is time to look for gold and treasure for Spain!
We settled here to start a new life and we came from Britain!
The Mississippian Indians were the first Indians to encounter the Europeans. The Natives lived in villages with chiefs and craftsmen and were socially advanced. When they encountered the Spanish, they contracted diseases like small pox and malaria. This would be the major factor in the Spanish conquering the Natives.
Hernando de Soto was the first European to discover Georgia and he came in search of gold. The main reasons of exploring the New World was to spread Christianity, find gold or other treasure, and to acquire land for their country so it can be more powerful. Also, the Europeans were in search of new trade routes. When the Europeans met the Native Americans, they were not fond of them and eventually the Spanish killed thousands of Natives.
The British came and colonized the locations along the Atlantic Coast including Virginia, South Carolina, and Boston. The factors that contributed to a successful colony were the production of silk, and other crops, and mainly the protection of the more successful colony of South Carolina. When Britain colonized, the French and Spanish wanted South Carolina and Virginia, so Georgia was established as a "buffer colony".
