Darry vs. Ponyboy
Greasers vs. Socs
Ponyboy and Darry are brothers and Ponyboy thinks that Darry hates him. He thinks that Darry hates him so when he thinks about it, he over thinks it. Ponyboy can make things better, because he can just talk to Darry about it so that they can solve their conflict. By the end of the book the conflict mostly resolves and Ponyboy realizes that doesn't hate him, Darry really cares about him and Darry wants his brothers to be safe .
Johnny challenges Ponyboy because he dies, Ponyboy grows because he has to learn how to live without one of his bestfriends. Johnny and Ponyboy were really close, they were together when Johnny killed Bob the they ran away to the church together. When Johnny dies Ponyboy changed as a person, he had lost a part of his group. Their relationship changes throughout the book, when they ran off to the church they got to know each other better.
Ponyboy is a greaser and he has to watch his back every time he leaves the house because he never knows when the Socs will attack. In the beginning Ponboy isn't really brave, he wouldn't fight a Soc and by the end of the book he would fight a Soc. The conflict is out of Ponyboy's control, it isn't his fault the Socs and Greasers hate each other. In the beginning the Socs and the Greasers hate each other, then Johnny kills Bob and the conflict gets worse near the end of the book.
