The Sculptor's Funeral
A group of townspeople waited at the train station for the arrival of Harve Merrick's body that was coming in from Boston.
The townspeople loaded up the casket on the buggy and hauled it back to the Merrick residence.
Together in the parlor, the family of Harve gathered to speak about him. Not one had very kind things to say of him. Most seemed jealous of his success.
From the kitchen, you could hear Harve's mother beating the maid, not unlike the times she would abuse Harve when he was younger and still living at home.
Back in the parlor, Laird, the town drunk enters spewing only foul words about the deceased.
Laird was unable to make the funeral and shortly after died while in the mountains.
