  • "You are brave to come here, Son of Poseidon..." (309).
  • Exposition Percy Jackson is a troubled kid who goes to Yancy Academy, he is also a half blood. In the exposition he is on a school field trip at a museum when false accusations toward him provoke his pre algebra teacher, Mrs. Dodds, to turn into a dragon and attack him. He slays the dragon with a pen that turns into a sword that he received from his latin teacher Mr. Brunner.

  • Rising Action After the field trip incident, more problems come Percy's way. On vacation at a cabin with his mom, she is killed by a bull like monster. After killing the bull Percy runs away to Camp Half Blood where half bloods go. While he is there he learns that Poseidon is his father and that he needs to go on a quest to find Zeus's stolen lightning bolt.
  • "I took out the metal cylinder, which began sparking in the Sky God's presence, and laid it at his feet" (342).
  • Climax Percy, Annabeth, and Grover go to Los Angeles on their quest to get Zeus's bolt. They have to go to the underworld because Hades is believed to have stolen the bolt. When they arrive Hades is displeased to see them because of a fight he had with Percy. After some arguing about who stole what the kids steal the bolt and escape the underworld. But they have to hurry home because Hades is after them.
  • Falling Action After securing the bolt, Percy and his friends return home to NYC. Percy tells his friends to go back to camp while he visits the Empire State Building to return the bolt to Zeus.
  • Resolution/Denouement Percy heads upstairs to Mt. Olympus and returns the bolt back to Zeus which pleases Zeus because there will be no war now.
