Class, we need a change!
It will give our classroom a new look and sound.
Isn't this better?!?!
I am going to start using Standards Based Grading. A team of teachers at my school will chose standards we want the students to master from Missouri GLE's and Missouri Learning Standards. Then, we will decide how to determine when students have mastered those objectives.
I will not be grading every assignment and putting it in the grade book with a number of points. Now, I will track your progress with a variety of activities directly related to these standards. When you are ready, you will be able to prove you have mastered the standard in a variety of ways. Instead of a letter grade, you will know if you have achieved each specific objective.
Now that I do Standards Based Grading, my students are more motivated because they know what their grades mean. I am able to communicate with parents more effectively by giving them personalized feedback. I know my students and their abilities much better than before and have a much more organized classroom.
