In 1787, a group of men met to write the Constitution. They did not like what was happening to the country. They fixed it by creating the Constitution. We call them The Framers.
certain people did not like it because they were afraid because it did not do enough to protect the rights of the people. but then they created the Bill of rights that every citizen has. the first 10 amendments
The Constitution has been changed 18 times since it was written. The amendments added things that the Framers didn't think of. Like women voting and ect.
The Constitution sets up the government, and splits it into 3 sections. The congress(Makes laws), President(Enforces the laws),Courts(carry out the laws)
All of the parts have to work together. The parts have to agree on the laws. No part has too much power. The power is shared. This helps protect the people.
12 amendments were originally proposed, but 10 that were ratified and they became the Bill of Rights in 1791. They defined citizens' rights in relation to the newly established government under the Constitution.
