Dally influences Pony by making him tougher because Dally is the "tough guy" of the group, so Pony kind of looks up to him. Dally also helped Pony and Johnny escape by giving them a gun and some money. Dally didn't really challenge Pony at first, but when Johnny died Dally wanted Pony to have a great life and never do bad things like he did. Pony always thought of Dally like the mean one or the dumb one. He also liked Dally the least out of the group.
Darry influences Pony by pushing him to achieve his goals. He does this by making him study for school and play sports. At the beginning of the book Pony thought that Darry hated him and He hated him back. When Pony and his brothers reunited, Darry started crying and thats when Pony realized how much Darry really cares for him. Then they started warming up to each other and then Darry started influencing Pony in a better way.
The fountain/park influences Pony by making him more cautious. The park also kind of scares him because it reminds him of being jumped again. He also sometimes thinks of how he almost died and of Johnny killing someone. Overall he hates this place because this is where all of the troubles he has gone through started.
