King Minos built a big palace for his wife honoring Zeus. But Poseidon grew jealous and sent a bull to be sacrificed to him.
But King Minos's wife grew fond of the bull so the king spared it. Poseidon cursed the queen to have a minotaur as a child.
The minotaur only eats human flesh. King Minos builds a labyrinth to house the minotaur. Every 9 years, Athens sends kids to be eaten.
Meanwhile, in Athens, King Aegeus's (King of Athens) son demands to go kill the minotaur. He sets out on a ship for Crete with the other victims.
Theseus arrives on Crete and King Minos's daughter, Ariadne, falls in love with him. She gives him a ball of string at night and he goes into the labyrinth. He kills the Minotaur.
He leaves Crete with the other prisoners, but King Minos believes he is dead and kills himself.
