After internment the Suzuki family was not allowed to move back to Vancouver. They moved to Southern Ontario where the whole family worked as farm hands.
After a couple of years the family moved to London Ontario to join extended family who was also affected by internment.
When David moved to London he became ashamed of his heritage. He discovered his small community of Japanese people could relate which gave him back his pride. He went on to become a scholar and environmental activist.
