Inciting Incident: Rainsford fell off the boat after he heard gunshots and swan to Ship-Trap Island
The author allows the plot to progress after Rainsford hears"'Pistol Shot,' muttered Rainsford, swimming on." (Connell) 63
Rising Action- Rainsford makes it to the island and meets Zaroff. Zaroff shows Rainsford the island and tells him about his game. huntee gets a 3 hour head start with a knife, Zaroff gets a pistol if huntee stays alive for 3 days they get to leave the island. Zaroff has never lost the game. Zaroff tries to kill Rainsford but Rainsford escapes each time.
When Rainsford finds the building the authir emphasizes his nature when he says"I am Sanger Rainsford of New York," Rainsford Began Again." I fell off a yacht. I am hungry"(Connell) 65
Rainsford sets up a trap after seeing Zaroff and Ivan and the trap ends up killing Ivan. The hounds chase rainsford and he jumps off a cliff into the sea.

Rainsford ends up winning the duel and gets to sleep in the bed.The thee of this story is how perspective can change depending on what people experience.
