Storyboard Text

  • You are blind, lost in the night, endless night that nursed you!
  • And you are blind to the corruption of your life!
  • But did you rise to the crisis? Not a word, you and your birds, your gods--nothing. No, but I came by, Oedipus the ignorant. I stopped the Sphinx! With no help from the birds, the flight of my own intelligence hit the mark!
  • Your hubris won't be accepted by the gods . . . these words will come back to hurt you.
  • You were born for pain . . .
  • Let a rough doom tear him down
  • An oracle came to Laius . . . doom would strike him down in the form of a son
  • You are fated to couple with your mother . . . you will kill your father, the one who gave you life!
  • Why me . . . ?
  • Polybus has nothing to you, that's why, not in blood.
  • . . . o___o
  • I pitied the little baby, master, hoped he'd take him off to his own country, far away.
  • PITY: you suffer so, you understand so much . . . I wish you had never known
  • What grief can crown this grief--I am Oedipus!
  • FEAR: count no man happy till he dies, free of pain at last
