Welcome to Rome! One of the most powerful empires in all of history.
There were two classes Plebeians and Patricians of people. The Plebeians had little to no power while the Patricians controlled most of Rome.
The two classes argued about whether or no the Plebeians got rights or not.
The Plebeians decided to leave Rome and camp on a nearby hill until they got what they wanted. What they wanted was to have equal rights. Since the Plebeians were 95% percent of Romeś population, they made up most of the army and the farmers as well. The Patricians eventually gave them some rights in the government.
The Plebeians wanted more rights and for the Patricians to write down the laws. The Patricians wrote down the laws on a few plaques of stone and called them the twelve tables.
So after two hundred years the Plebeians finally got the rights they deserved.
