Storyboard Text

  • Alexander Hamilton was Washington's Secretary of Treasury and he created the National Bank
  • Thomas Jefferson was also in Washington's cabinet. He was the Secretary of State.
  • The most controversial thing about Hamilton's plan was that Hamilton felt the need for a strong central government, while jefferson wanted a stronger state government.
  • We need a national bank!
  • No! Why do that when the states can do the exact same thing?
  • I believe in a strict interpretation of the constitution which means that if it is not stated in the constitution, then we do no have the power to do so.
  • I believe in a loose interpretation which means that if the Constitution does not say the government can not do something, then the government is allowed to do so.
