To become a fly fisher you must master certain skills.
You must learn how to assemble your fly rod, and you must learn how to cast.
You must learn a lot about fish.
Because you must prevent the fishing line from slapping the water, you must learn to cast it so it drops like a snowflake.
The process might not sound difficult, but novice fly fishers often spend hours untangling fishing line.
Since you have to learn where the fish are you have to find what they eat.
It can all seem like a lot of work just to catch a fish, but catching that first beautiful fish makes all the work worthwhile.
