Jefferson Davis was the President of the Confederate States of America. He was a former politician, and was born in Kentucky but raised in Mississippi. However, when Mississippi seceded, he left his political position and became the President of the Confederacy.
This is Abraham Lincoln. He was elected the as the President of the Union in 1861. He also signed the Emancipation Proclamation, whih abolished slavery in the Confederacy.
This is Ulysses S. Grant. He was appointed as the Commander of the Union Army. He led the victories of many battles fought by the Union during the Civil War. He was the General that accepted Robert E. Lee's surrender in 1865.
Robert E. Lee commanded the army of Northern Virginia. He was a good, experienced general. That gave the South an advantage of having good battle strategies. However, that was still not enough to win the war. He surrendered to Uysses E. Grant in 1865, and ended the Civil War.
William Carney was a sergeant in the Union Army during the Civil War. He was the first African American to be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. He was given this medal because of his bravery and selfless actions in battle.
Philip Bazaar was from Chile, and he was a Navy seaman in the Union Army. He was also awarded the Medal of Honor for his service in the war.
