Zeus, the god of all the heavens, and Demeter, the goddess of agriculture and marriage, have a beautiful baby girl. Her name is Core. She is a rather spoiled girl but is extremely beautiful and has quite a few admirers.
One day, Hades, the king of the under-world, looked into a magical well and saw Core. He instantly fell in love and asked Zeus for permission to marry Core.
Since Zeus didn't want to insult his brother, Zeus didn't say yes... or no. Hades, unsatisfied, decided to kidnap Core and forcefully take her to the underworld.
Demeter traveled the world, constantly searching for her daughter. She didn't eat, drink or stop at all. Finally, she went to ask Helios, the titan in charge of driving the sun around the earth, who saw everything. He told her that he had seen Hades kidnap Core.
Helios! Earth to Helios! Have you seen my little Core? she is missing. Everyone on earth will die if I can't find her!
Unknown to Core, a ghostly gardener is spying on her, watching her eat the pomegranate seeds.
If you eat food in the underworld, you are magically unable to physically leave. So far, Core has refused all food. Then she sees a delicious pomegranate tree and she can't help but try some because she is so hungry.
There is a big debate on how to solve this problem. In the end, Core has to spend part of her time with her mother, and part of her time with her gloomy husband in the underworld.
