Flowers For Algernon by Daniel Keyes Story Board By: Brody Swanson
In the introduction in this story is when Charlie Gorgon wants to get picked by the doctors for them to do their surgery on him to make him smarter. Charlie has a mental disability and all he wants is to be smart and have friends. He is a very nice and loves to be around people. He is the main character of the story.
This is the rising action. Charlie is getting surgery to make him smarter. The surgery doesn't hurt and after the surgery Charlie doesn't feel any smarter than he did before the surgery.
The Algernon Gordon Effect
This is the Climax in this story. Charlie is getting his own office to do research on his surgery that he got in the rising action.
The falling action in this story is when charlie gets sick. He forgets what happened in a time that a week went by. He can barely remember his own name. Finally a doctor comes and looks at Charlie.
The Denouement is very sad. Charlie is about to die and he writes a letter to Mrs. Kinnian. He is telling her to not be sad for Charlie and that Charlie is glad that he got to be smart for a little while and that he is glad that he got too see and experience everything that he did. He says that he is the first person in the world to find out something in science that no one else did.
