Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • The book takes place in Harrison New Hampshire. Philip the main character doesn't like his teacher Ms. Narwin. He likes to make jokes in class. Philip is mad because Ms. Narwin gave him a D on his test.
  • Conflict
  • Philip is great at track. He is one of the best in the school. When he gets a D in class he is told that he can't be on the track team because you need a B average. When he gets Ms. Narwin for homeroom her life just gets worst. All he wants to do is get switched out so he starts to annoy Ms. Narwin by humming.
  • Ms. Narwins Homeroom
  • Philips homeroom classes change. He has Ms. Narwin as the new homeroom teacher. When they are listening to the pledge of allegiance Philip starts to hum two days in a row and is asked to stop both times. There is a rule not to stop but he did it anyway. Philip gets expelled for a day.
  • Rising Action
  • Climax
  • Philip goes home and tells his parents he was expelled because he was singing and trying to be patriotic. His parents call a reporter and schedule an interview. They talk to the people being elected on the school board and the principle. The news is heard all over the country. Ms. Narwin is put on leave and may loose her job.
  • Falling Action
  • When Philip gets back to school many kids are making fun of him or not talking to him. Ms. Narwin decides not to go back to Harrison to work. Philip really wants to change school so people stop teasing him. Finally his parents let him switch schools.
  • Resolution
  • Philip goes to a new school and nobody knows his story. When they ask him if he wants to say pledge of allegiance he declines .
