  • It all began with me, a women! I am Queen Elizabeth I and I am the one who granted royal permission to begin colonizing America!
  • Virginia, were Roanoke was settled, was named after me. The "Virgin" queen!
  • Sojourner Truth is my name. I was an African American abolitionist and also used my efforts to campaign for women's rights!
  • One of my most famous speeches, "Ain't I a Women?" was famous for my plain speech explaining women equality
  • I wrote "Uncle Tom's Cabin." This book was popular because of it's slavery content. This pushed the anti-slavery campaign.
  • Harriet Beecher Stowe
  • Abraham Lincoln once said that my books were a major push in the civil war
  • Elizabeth Cady Stanton
  • A major social activist in her time, Elizabeth Cady Stanton spent a lot of her time focused on women's suffrage. She was a principle author of Declaration of Sentiments in 1848
  • Harriet Tubman
  • A committed abolitionist, I was known for helping slaves break away from slavery through the under ground railroad
  • My story does not end there, I served as a spy for the US Army during the Civil War
  • Clara Barton
  • I started my career off as a teacher, however, I did not stop there! I worked in the US Patent Office and was an Independent Nurse for the Army.
  • Still extremely popular today, I am the founder of the American Red Cross
