Storyboard Text

  • Believe it or not, there is actually quite a difference between the two types of waves.
  • The highest point of the wave is called a crest and the bottom part os called a trough.
  • A transverse wave moves up and down at a 90 degree angle.
  • When parts of the wave are close, it's called a compression, when they are spread out
  • On the other hand, a compressional wave moves back and forth.
  • it is called a rarefaction.
  • Can we measure parts of a wave?
  • And frequency is the amount of waves that pass in a certain amount of time (Measured in Hertz Hz)
  • Wavelength is the distance between two corresponding parts of a wave.
  • As a matter of fact, you can.
  • and you can always measure the speed.
  • Now we understand waves!
