  • Britain gained control of the colony by offering technology and military strength. The one condition was that on the local leaders death the throne would become a British possession.

  • The British maintained control of the colony by India feeling safe by their protection of the military. Britain didn't force India to stay "conquered" India chose to have the protection.
  • What Benefited the Natives with British Presence
  • Britain took over India because India was rich in resources. Britain needed expeditions to send to other countries.
  • What did not Benefit the Natives with British Presence
  • The British wanted to control India both politically and economically. They could use the locals to make Britain stronger. Britain wanted to divide India's power to help their country.
  • The British built schools and rail ways. It did benefit the natives, but it was intentional to benefit the British as well.
  • The fact that everything that that British did was for their own benefit. They did not care about the natives. They only cared for what would make their country stronger.
