Storyboard Text

  • Okay. I want harsher punishments for  crimes. Lets make it happen..
  • Would I be able to make a law?
  • Well.... It's not that  easy.
  • Yes.
  • So, who do I talk to first?
  • First, it has to go through the House Of Commons.
  • You have to write down your law and give it to an MP so the bill can go through the First Reading.
  • What happens now that it is going through the First Reading?
  • what happens after the first reading
  • They just consider whether the bill looks good or not.
  • After the first reading the bill goes to the second reading
  • What happens then
  • They study the bill or can vote to reject it
  • Is it done then
  • They can amend the bill if it needs some changes, accept the bill or reject it
  • If the bill is excepted it goes to the committee stage
  • Then the bill goes to the report stage where they can debate if the bill needs more amendment or if it is good
  • Not quite yet. It has to go through the 3rd reading where they have a debate about the bill and they can either accept it or reject it.
  • Then it becomes a law?
