Hello all you math super stars! I'm glad you all decided to show up today! Today we are going to talk about concavity.
Concavity is pretty simple so for example take the function f(x)=(x^3)+2x and find f''(x). Everyone in here should know how to take a derivative that's elementary math. So after you find f''(x) find the zeros. So f''(x)=6x and the zeros would be x=0 (because you set 6x=0 and solve for x
Guys stop talking you're being so rude my 4th period acts better than you! Ok so after you find the zeros make a sign chart. So for this example you would draw a line and put zero in the middle. Then pick a number greater than and less than zero and plug both numbers into the equation and see if they come out positive or negative. If f''(x)>0 then f(x) is concave up. If f''(x)<0 then f(x) is concave down.
