  • Continental Soldiers Pay Day!
  • Thank You, it was my honor to fight for a free country!
  • Thank You..... How am I going to get money? I'll sell it for money!
  • In honor of the men who fought in war, I give you a certificate as your pay!
  • Massachusetts Debt!
  • The government now declares that we may take your barn, for not paying the taxes.
  • This my rightly owned property! You can't take my property from me!
  • August 29 in North Hampton!
  • We, the farmers want our property back! Let's shut down the government!!
  • The Continental Soldiers did and didn't get a pat after the war. The soldiers got a paper certificate that was issued by the government. The soldiers didn't get actual money. So most of the time, soldiers would see their their certificates to get money.
  • September 25-28 Rebellion!
  • We, the government can't have a divided country. The rebels might even create a "democratic mob". We must do something, immediately!
  • People in western Massachusetts, especially farmers had a lot of debt. The Massachusetts legislature raised the taxes and required for people to pay hard money. If the colonists couldn't pay their taxes, the government would take away their property.
  • Shay's New Plan!
  • On August 29, a group of farmers closed the Hampshire County Court of Common Pleas. The farmers thought they would be justified, but the government kept strong and continued the Hampshire County Court of Common Pleas.
  • Massachusetts Central Observation!
  • We have come to realize that the rebellion was indeed bad, but look what it has done to this country many poitive things!
  • During September 25 to September 28 another rebellion was at risk. Shay had grouped 600 farmers and had occupied the Springfield Courthouse! The government had fear that the rebels would create a "democratic mob".
  • Shay had a new plan and hoped that this would shut down the government. Shay discovered that he was going against an organized militia. Shay's plan was to mount a surprise attack and overrun the organized militia. There was an unexpected turn there were four men killed and twenty men injured.
  • We must make a new plan!
  • Sir, there are men guarding the government... what shall we do!
  • The Massachusetts Central Observation was an article that talked about this. Shay's Rebellion was indeed bad, but if the rebellion didn't happen we wouldn't of had a new government!
