Storyboard Text

  • Hi class! Welcome to cell division science class! Today you will learn all about the cell cycle!
  • DNA
  • The first stage in the cell cycle is interphase. In this stage the cell carries out normal life activities, and the DNA duplicates.
  • Nucleus
  • Cell Membrane
  • The next stage in the cell cycle is Prophase. Lets learn all about it!
  • In Prophase the chromosomes start to form, the membrane starts to disappear, and the spindle fibers start stretching across.
  • Chromosomes
  • Nucleus
  • Cell Membrane
  • Spindle fibers attached to the centrioles
  • Centrioles attached to centriols
  • Chromosome and centromere
  • In Metaphase, the chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell, and the spindle fibers attach to the centromere.
  • Ok class! Now that we have learned about the first two stages, lets learn about the 3rd stage, Metaphase!
  • During Anaphase, the chromatids of each chromosome separate into separate chromosomes and are pulled to opposite sides of the cell.
  • The next stage of the cell cycle is Anaphase!
  • Centrioles
  • Chromosomes
  • Spindle Fibers
  • During Telophase, a nuclear membrane forms around each group of chromosomes. The DNA returns to a loose mass of strands, and the cell membrane starts to form again.
  • The 5th stage in the cell cycle is telophase!
  • Centrioles
  • Nucleus with DNA in it
  • We are almost there class! The last stage of the cell cycle is Cytokinesis!
  • Nucleus with DNA in it
  • Nucleus with DNA in it
  • In Cytokinesis the cytoplasm splits! The final product is two new daughter cells.
