Storyboard Text

  • Exposition.
  • "Now, you fancy me mad. Madmen know nothing. But you should of seen me. You should have seen how cunningly I proceeded- with what caution-with what foresight- with what dissimulation."
  • Conflict.
  • "One of  his eyes resembled that of a vulture- a pale blue eye, with a film over it. Whenever it fell upon me, my blood ran cold: and so by degrees- very gradually- I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, thus rid myself of the eye forever."
  • Rising Action.
  • "Every night around midnight, I turned the latch on the door and opened it- oh so gently! And then , when I had made an opening sufficient for my head, I did this for 7 long nights- every night at midnight, but the eye was always closed."
  • The narrator is introduced, along with the old man at an arpartment complex, and the narrator wishes to prove his sanity despite killing a man just because the old man's eye vexed him.
  • Climax.
  • "When I had waited a long time,very patiently, without hearing him lie down, I resolved to open a little- a very, very little crevice in the lantern. So I opened it- you cannot imagine how stealthily, stealthily- until, at a length, a single dim ray. like the tread of the spider shot from out the crevice and fell upon the vulture eye. It was open- wide open- and I grew furious as I gazed upon it."
  • The narrator live in the same building as the old man with the deformed eye, looking like a vulture's eye with a film covering it. 
  • Falling Action.
  • "It was four o'clock- still dark as midnight. As the bell sounded the hour there I came to the door."
  • The narrator plots killing the old man just because of his deformed eye. Each night the narrator goes into the old man's roo untill the narrator sees the deformed eye.
  • Resolution.
  • Tick, tick, tick, tick.
  • "I confess. Make it stop!"
  • The narrator killed the old man.
  • Summoned by a neighbor, the police arrived stating that someone reported a screeching scream
  • The narrator believes that he is hearing a ticking noise that grows louder and louder. He believes that the sound is the old man's heart and confesses to the police
