The story all started when the king of Thebes, Creon, forbid anyone to bury Polynice, who was in his mind a traitor to Thebes. Antigone, one of Polynice's sisters, decided to disobey the laws and bury her brother because she thought the divine laws should out weigh Theben law.
Once Creon found out, he sentenced Antigone to death by Stone. Even though she was to be put to death, Antigone didn't regret what she did.
Though he was told by his son that his stubbornness towards Antigone's punishment wasn't supported by the city, he kept to the idea that Antigone should be punished for her action. But, his son's words caused him to lessen the punishment from death to exile
He was later met by Tiresias about how his actions have angered the gods. Though he wanted to stick to his laws, Creon decided to bury Polynices and free Antigone from her punishment after being told staying to his laws would cause death in his family
Though he tried to right the wrongs he did, he was too late. Antigone had already hung herself and Haemen (his son) blamed him for his fiancee's death. So Haemon killed himself
After finding out that her son was dead and that her husband was responsible, she killed herself and cursed Creon
So in the end, him being overly confident in his rule caused him to be blind to the truth. He started on top but ended with a fate that no one would envy.
