Storyboard Text

  • Hey! I'm Cameron and I'm a Methodist, which is denomination or type of Christianity, just like Malala is a Sunni Muslim.
  • Hi! I'm Malala. I'm from Iraq where the most common religion is Islam. I am a Sunni Muslim which is one of the types of Islam.
  • Hello! I'm Jeff and I am Jewish. I was born in Israel, but have come to the US to learn about different religions and cultures.
  • In Israel, the most common religion is Judaism. Here we all read the Torah for our Holy book, like Christians read the Bible and Muslims read the Koran. We also worship in Synagogues on Saturdays, unlike Christians who mostly worship on Sundays and Muslims who worship everyday.
  • I grew up in the Southern US which is predominantly Christian. We believe that Jesus, was not just a prophet like Jews and Muslims believe, but the Son of God sent to us to save us from our sins.
  • Three college students have become friends and are helping each other understand more about the differences and similarities between their three religions.
  • Today I am here in Iraq, my home country, to celebrate Ramadan, one of the biggest holidays in the Islam faith. This holiday is similar to Christianity's Lent, where they give up something precious to them for 40 days, and we Muslims fast for a month. This is also similar to the Jewish Holiday of Passover which is the same thing as the Christian's Lent.
  • Jeff, the college student talks about the similarities and differences between the Holy Books of the three religions of the Middle Eats and the days of worship.
  • Lastly, I wanted to talk about where I worship as a Christian. I worship in a church, while Jews worship in Synagogues, and Muslims worship in a Mosque. All of our religions are Monotheistic so we only worship one god. We call our God , God as well as Jews and Muslims call their God, Allah.
  • Here, Cameron is talking about one of the main beliefs of Christianity, that Jesus was the son of God, and compares him to the other religions by showing that they believed in him, but only as a prophet , not the Son of God.
  • We are all so happy that we got to learn about all of the differences and similarities in our religions!
  • In this scene, Malala is comparing one of the major holidays of Islam to major holidays in the other two Middle Eastern religions.
  • Here, Jeff is talking about where the different religions worship and what they worship.
  • Finally all three students come together again and discuss how interesting each of their religions is.
