Storyboard Text

  • Simile
  • "We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality."
  • "The rough places will be plain and the crooked places will be made straight."
  • Metaphor
  • "Go back to..."
  • Repetiotion
  • "There will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights."
  • Police brutality is the preferred form of social control. Criminal prosecutions for police brutality rarely occur because few state prosecutors are willing to aggressively pursue abusive officers.
  • Pathos
  • MLK proclaims his faith as he quotes from the bible and uses it to further validate his belief in the civil rights movement.
  • Allusion
  • "When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir."
  • MLK showed his intentions to push through all adversity to get to where he not only wants to go but where he wants us Americans to go.
  • Powerful Line
  • "Free at last. Free at last. Thank God Almighty, we are free at last."
  • There will be no peace in America until the Negros get equal rights like white people.
  • A promissory note is an unconditional promise. The Constitution and the Declaration of Independence said the U.S. would eventually have equal rights.
  • The Negros were very thankful because they finally got equal right and were free after so many things the Negros went through.
