The Maurice Debate.
The minister of munitions was a role created within the first world war - it involved overseeing the production and distribution of munitions within the war effort. In May 1915 a new Ministry was created - David Lloyd George as Minister due to his heroic reputation.
Due to the weakening of Asquith's political authority, David Lloyd George became the British Priminister in 1916.
The Maurice Debate took place in the British House of Commons on 9th May 1918. David Lloyd George successfully denied any accusations made by General Maurace, that British soldiers had been deliberately held back from the western front.
