  • Hamartia: The flaw that causes the downfall
  • Tim's fatal flaw is not believing in himself.
  • ____________________________as a Tragic Hero Using Aristotle's 6 Principles
  • Hubris: Extreme Pride
  • Vanessa asks Tim to run with her. He knows it will be really sunny but he shows his vanity by refusing to wear his glasses.
  • Peripeteia: Reversal of fortune
  • Chaos begins at the hotel. Order is restored when the sledding accident separates TIm and Vanessa.
  • Anagnorisis: When the hero makes a critical discovery
  • As Vanessa and Tim sled down the hill, Tim decides to tell her how he feels about her.
  • Nemesis: Fate that cannot be reversed
  • Tim goes blind as he speeds down the hill on the sled. He hits the tree and goes permanently blind.
  • Catharsis: Tone (Pity or Fear) the audience is left with after the hero's fall
  • The audience is left with pity for Tim because he ends up being blind and he never gets to see Vanessa anymore.
  • "you are blind!"
