  • The Muslims had been threatening France. Forced to negotiate, Eudes wedded his daughter to Othmar, one of the Islamic emirs.
  • Retreat!
  • AHH!
  • In 732 Abd er Rahman, the governor of Spain, marched over the Pyrenees, on his way to end the unrest on his northern border, but more likely to destroy the Frankish territories.
  • We have won the battle!
  • Charles positioned his army at a place where he expected the Muslim army to pass, at a defensive and higher ground position. For six days the two armies watched each other with just minor skirmishes.
  • Because we have one the battle the Muslims will not be able to conquer Europe!
  • The battle finally started and the Franks charged. They defeated the Islamic army after about a day of battle according to Frankish sources, their cavalry several times broke into the interior of the Frankish square.
  • The Islamic army was finally defeated, and so the Muslims retreated back to their camp. Abd er Rahman was killed and the Franks had won the war.
  • By winning the war Charles had prevented the spread Islam throughout Europe and let Christianity push forward.
