This is the Reese family. They are a nuclear family because the parents Mary and Greg are married and have four children: Jay (12), Sally(9), and the four year old twins Mike and Rita. The family also has a dog named Lily, a cat named Storm, and a rabbit named Bugs.
This is the Ding family. They are the Reese's neighbors and good friends. The Ding family is a Same-Sex Family. Lacey and her partner Samantha have two adopted children: Mark is three and Dana is four. The family also has a dog named Clifford.
While Jay and Sally are at school and Mary, Greg, and Samantha are at work, Mike and Rita stay with Lacey and her children. The parents work during the week so that they can support their families. On the weekends the two families like to spend time together. Lacey teaches the children some things that they will need for school, like how to treat others with respect and how to play nicely.
On Sunday's, the two families have made a tradition of spending time together. They like to do all sorts of fun things together like go to the park, have barbecues, and go to zoo. This Sunday, they go to the dog park with Clifford and Lily. Everyone is responsible for something, even little Mark. The children must all bring a toy that everyone can share and play with, and make sure to bring it home after. The adults are in charge of the food and dogs.
The children enjoy playing with the dogs and then playing catch and soccer with each other while the parents watch over them and talk amongst themselves. Then it's time for lunch. The families make sure that they don't litter and put all their trash in the garbage.
Soon it's time to head home. The Reese's and Ding's start to pack up their belongings and put them in their vehicles. But, before they leave, they decide to play one more game of catch. But no one can find the baseball! How will they play catch now?
